Biblical narrative and reality merge as the Levite’s Concubine from the Bible crosses a threshold into the real landscape of West Virginia. The doomed Concubine meshes with the middle-aged Pearl, who drinks herself into oblivion due to a series of beloved-but-absent Marlboro Men.
